We often think that after being single for a while, we’ve served our time metaphorically speaking. Like after a period of time we are obligated to enter a random and unruly unity. It’s sickening to think we have molded ourselves to think such. For example, if you get a sports injury just because you’re able to play on it, does not mean it is healed. It simply means that your actions are tolerable enough for your injury to withstand. Basing your recovery of the emotional whiplash you might have sustained on a period of time is juvenile to say the least.
